Continuing the trend of the first two volumes, Dark Hunters Volume 3 is a good adaptation of Sherrilyn Kenyon's well known paranormal romance series by the same name. Volume 3 is the first part of book 3 in the Dark Hunters series titled Night Embrace. It features Talon, an ancient Celtic warrior turned Dark Hunter, and Sunshine, a quirky, scatter-brained yet strong and lovable artist who happens to possess the reincarnated soul of his long dead wife. Talon was cursed while still human, and fears that becoming close to Sunshine will get her killed somehow. While he is right to be fearful of his curse and past catching up to his present, things are not quite the way he thinks they are and the resolution of this story is not certain until the very end.

Night Embrace is one of my favorites in the Dark Hunter world. I absolutely love Sunshine as a leading lady. She possesses such contradictory character traits she comes off as fascinating. Sunshine is very strong, very independent, and turns Talon's well managed emotional stability on its head. She is completely different from her former incarnation as his past wife, and it is just what he needed even though he never realized it before meeting her. Even then it takes him a while to truly understand and appreciate the differences. Talon is a tortured hero, much the same as the rest of the Dark Hunters. He is very charismatic and manages to charm his way into readers' hearts even in this abbreviated version of the story. Their relationship has plenty of chemistry, but is also very tender. Some of the chemistry and tenderness is lost in the translation to graphic novel, but there is still enough of it to carry this story.

I enjoyed the introduction of Zarek and Valerius in this book. They were a little different from what I imagined they would look like in a graphic novel, but still very well done. I am looking forward to their stories being told and hope this series will continue for as long as the original one.

This is a graphic novel based on a paranormal romance novel. Readers should be aware that sexual relations are heavily implied although not explicitly shown. Readers should also be aware that because of the format it is impossible to bring every scene from the book into this story exactly as in the original. Regardless, the story is told with fidelity to the original and the changes do not change the premise or the feel of the plot and characters. Volume 4, coming out in 2011 will have the second half of this particular novel, so don't expect the entire book to be in this volume. The trend for this series seems to be 2 books per novel of the original series.

Fans of the Dark Hunters series should like this version of the story as well. It is also good enough to be enjoyed by people completely new to the Dark Hunters universe and may lure some new fans to the original series in order to get the whole story. The bottom line: this is a solid adaptation of a very good paranormal romance novel which should entertain old fans and new readers alike.

I love the Dark-Hunter series its a very unique/awesome series

Love it
There was fun history here and the names I thought would remind me of Indian tribes. But it ended up being hippy names. I loved the whole love through the ages thing.
To tell you the truth I just bought the first book because I liked the drawings and the first one of this series was cheap. I was pleasantly surprised that the story was both funny and entertaining. Sooooo, I ended buying book 2 and 3! Oh and I'm planning on buying the written books the author has in addition to the graphic novels. Yeah, I know, I'm hooked. It has mythology which the author adapted to the new age, well done. I liked how the characters were drawn also, handsome guys!! I can't wait for book #4.
I only say that it moved fast because I have read the novels that they are based off of so I know all the little details. You still get a full grasp of the story, however. I loved seeing them adapted into a manga, and I wish they would have continued to do so.

I want to preface this review by stating, that I've never really liked Sherrilyn's writing in her romance novels, but I do rather like the comic book adaptions. Mostly, because I think her writing in the books has a juvenile quality and the dark hunters mythos is a bit silly. However in comic adaption, this `light quality' sort of works for me.

This story follows Talon and Sunshine (hate the names). Talon is a celtic warrior who has bargained away his humanity for vengeance. Sunshine is sort of a goofy artist with a weird hairstyle. The story covers their interactions and their growing attraction for each other.

The art is well-done, and while I think Talon looks a bit too young (he barely looks 16), and Sunshine is a bit scattered, it was an enjoyable enough read. I am interested to see how the story involving the celtic god who has it in for Talon is resolved, since, in my opinion his hatred for Talon is justified since Tal killed his son.

One character depiction I don't care for is Acheron. He's simply not attractive and looks like an ugly woman, which I'm not sure is the a good look for him.

While I enjoy the story, it doesn't have a `re-readable' quality too it. The story is a bit weak, and the characters are portrayed a bit black and white. I like a bit more depth to my story to make it a keeper.
