Bad editing, rushed story, insta-love. What it really comes down to, though, is one question. Let's say you REALLY like a guy; and then, one night, you walk into a room and you see him having sex with someone else.... does that make you want to get naked with him, no questions asked, as soon as he gets rid of the other girl? NOPE! Me either. As far as I am concerned, this is a cheating book. Skip it.Tags : Resisting Her - Kindle edition by Kendall Ryan. Resisting Her edition by Kendall Ryan Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
'Resisting Her' was a decent slow-moving romance. Some parts I didn't particularly care for, though. For example; Cole seems like a man whore and to me it DOES seem like he's taking advantage of Savannah. He kept pulling her in only to push her away again and again. When he started the physical side of the relationship, to him he was just going to enjoy it while she lived with him and move on when she moved out. He should know that Savannah had never been with a man, never been in a relationship, was vulnerable and would likely really fall for him. Even his sister told Cole that would happen. And Savannah. She was just SO weak. The story was okay but just not really for me.
Kendall Ryan did it again - I've read all the books from this author. Cole is an FBI agent with a heart of gold while Savannah has been sheltered in a cult all her life and thankfully Cole is the one who found her during the raid and she trusts him from the beginning. Cole trying to do the right thing by Savannah while she is feeling her way into adulthood and Savannah trying to take care of Cole for all he does for her. It's an emotional story (as all of Kendall Rayan's books are) that endears you to both main characters. This books ends the way I like it - with a huge grin from ear to ear. That doesn't mean that I didn't want to scream at Cole a few times, or smack Cole upside the head and say "really?", or give Savannah a hug and tell her Cole is just being a dumb-dumb give him time. Ha! Great read.
Cole works as an FBI agent & finds Savannah while infiltrating a cult compound. Savannah is sent to a scary halfway house & Cole can't get her out of his head. He takes her in & tries to get her back on her feet, holding himself off from getting close to her because he knows how inappropriate the entire situation already is. Cole brings home a blind date one night - to his house that he is now sharing with Savannah - and proceeds to sleep with this date! Cole is so stupid, but yet it ended in a really hot situation because Savannah peaks in on Cole in the middle of the action & he can see how turned on she is. She grew up in a cult but she isn't unaware of how things work in the world, and she wants Cole in the worst way! The story could have gone off on a number of more interesting directions about the cult life, especially regarding the boy Dillon who Savannah grew up with in the cult. The only conflict in this story surrounds Cole's past in that he had a relationship with a girl he rescued in a situation similar to Savannah's & he continues to see this woman out of guilt for leaving her. Savannah is heartbroken to think that she is just Cole's pet project. Overall a wonderful book, Cole & Savannah have a sweet romance & the book has a happily-ever-after ending!
I really, really wanted to love this book, but instead just liked it.
We meet Cole as he's rescuing Savannah from a compound that the FBI has just seized. He comes off as a big tough guy with no feelings, but after the case is over, he can't seem to get this girl out of his head.
When he ends up finding her, and then bringing her home to live with him, he keeps telling himself that it's because she wasn't safe where she was, and refuses to believe it could be something more.
Savannah is 19 almost 20 and really hasn't lived, and doesn't know what to do now that everything she has known is gone. She knows she's attracted to Cole but isn't sure what to do about it. She has been told time and time again that men are pigs and only want one thing. But something about Cole makes her feel things she doesn't know what to do with.
This book has the perfect title, as Cole spends 90% of the book resisting Savannah and believing he isn't good enough for her or what she needs. I wanted to smack him across the head to get him to see what was sitting right in front of him. Everyone but him could see how he really felt about Savannah. I was so happy when he finally gave in, but even then he still didn't think he was what she needed, but didn't want to let her go.
Savannah seemed to be the stronger character in my mind, even with all she had gone through, she knew what she wanted and went after it, while Cole was trying to be the strong one, and came off weak to me at times.
Cole and Savannah's story is not traditional, from how they met, to how their relationship started, nothing was expected, and I really enjoyed this part of the story. But there were parts where I was expecting something more. An example is Cole's secret he was keeping, I was expecting something more than what it was and was little let down, especially with all the build up to his secret that would "destroy" Savannah.
Overall this is a great read, and if you're looking for a stand alone love story about a broken alpha male and a damsel in distress, this is a perfect book to pick up. I will definitely be looking at more books by Kendall Ryan to read in the future.
