TANK Savage Saints MC Book 2 edition by Carmen Jenner Lauren McKellar Literature Fiction eBooks

This is probably one of the hardest reviews I've ever tried writing, there are so many things I want to say, but I've been struggling to find the right words, Carmen Jenner has created a story that left me speechless. Normally I'm able to write my reviews as soon as I finish reading or at least parts of it, but every time over the last hours, since finishing Tank, that I've tried writing something, nothing came out, except crying and small smiles.

The crying was for all the ugliest most disgusting of tortures that Ivy and Tank each relived of their separate pasts, for the cruelest moments they experienced at the hands of monsters. What each of them went through, was pain more terrifying and cutting than any other, I found myself wanting to switch off my own emotions so that the weight of what was happening to them would stop breaking my heart as well. However it was impossible not to feel it, to want to smash and scream and break everything in site, to want to stop the excruciating stab of darkness that was threatening to swallow everything in a sea of tears. The only anchor in all of it the bond between Ivy and Tank, that had them fighting to save each other and themselves. Their moments of joy, that gave them a distraction from the horror, was what made me smile. Every time Ivy gave Tank sass and he was a cocky smart ass in return, when he fought for her to let him in and she did, when they realised what they were to the other, I felt it, all of the warmth and the strength that they deserved.

Ivy had been a woman that would have done anything for a fix, the sweet numbing release that could help her for a while to forget everything else that had destroyed her. Tank was a hardened beast of a man, that never wanted to fall in love, love was a weakness. Together they changed so much. They may have gone through hell, but their shattered pieces were glued back together with only the smallest of cracks left that would no longer define their weaknesses but remind them all of their strength.

This book was dark, it was terrifying and the characters Ivy and Tank are what made it beautiful. Carmen Jenner told their story with such depth that she didn't just give us a look into their haunted memories, she gave us all of who they became. A truly phenomenal read, that will break readers in the most agonising of ways and then give them just enough to overcome it.

TANK Savage Saints MC Book 2 edition by Carmen Jenner Lauren McKellar Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

4.5 Stars!

Carmen Jenner pulls no punches with this series. It's brutal. It's emotional. It's savage!!!!! I knew from reading Kick that this was not going to be an easy read and it wasn't! There were points that I just couldn't take the emotional beat down and was forced to walk away to lick my wounds before I could read more. Don't get me wrong, this is a wonderful story, it's just not one that is easy, nor should it be. I love that Carmen tells it like it is. Giving us Tank and Ivy's story without softening the jagged edges. These characters are anything but soft and their story shouldn't be either.

If you need flowers, hearts and rainbows, this is not the book for you. This is dark, gritty and sharp. It will cut you. Be ready with band-aids and booze. You will need them.
Tank by Carmen Jenner is the second book in the Savage Saints MC series. Although it can be read as a stand alone novel, I highly recommend reading this book in series order because of the subject matter and content. Tank coincides with Kick. Many of the scenes and passages take place at the same time as the scenes in Kick but from a different perspective or coinciding with the club business dealt with in Kick.

Readers were introduced to Tank, the assassin for the Savage Saints in the first book. He joined the Savage Saints with his best friend Kick when they left their former MC. He’s earned his status as a killer. He’s heartless except where Ivy is concerned. She is his woman and he has made his claim.

Readers also met Ivy in the first book. Ivy is one of the club whores and fixated on Kick. She’s a junkie and will do anything to get her next hit. When she caused all kinds of trouble for Kick, she was almost banned from the Savage Saints. Tank stepped in and claimed her. He took her home. He forced her to detox. He’s forcing her to stay off the drugs and away from the club. He is forcing her to stay away from Kick, the twisted man she thinks she loves. She hates Tank. She hates that he is forcing her to become clean. She hates that he can see through her facade. She hates that he knows what drives her addictions. He doesn’t know everything though. Her past is beyond the worst nightmare. Her past could get the entire club killed.

Ivy may hate what Tank is forcing her to do but she also appreciates it. He’s the first person to show her compassion. He’s the first person that cared enough to help her. He’s the first person to truly love her. She hopes his love is not for nothing. She hopes that he won’t end up dead because of her.

I am not going to say too much more about this story because it’s something a reader must experience for themselves. What I will say is that Carmen Jenner did not pull any punches and did not sugar coat this book at all. She gave a realistic accounting of what it’s like to have addictions. She gave a vivid view of the abuse that Ivy went through. I can thoroughly sympathize with Ivy and understand her addiction. Carmen Jenner took something that was horrifically ugly and turned it into something beautiful without making it perfect. She let Tank and Ivy’s imperfections fuel their relationship and make them stronger.

Tank was well written and I commend Carmen for having the guts to portray this story with an honest delivery. It’s not a pretty story. It’s a story of second chances and personal redemption.

Tank is a solid 5 Star Book.
